The tutor never grades its own help as mastery.
Every hint, worked example, and check is written to an append-only record and labelled assisted or unassisted. A skill is called mastered only after your kid passes an unaided check at least a day later, and the parent report uses that word only then.
How a session works
A session looks like a call: the tutor on one tile, the whiteboard beside it, the record underneath. Sessions run 25 minutes (15 for ages 9 to 12) and end on time.

The AI tutor, and how you can tell what it is doing
A presence, not a face: it opens while it listens, draws in while it thinks, and moves with the voice while it speaks. Deliberately not a person — the label stays on screen, and it says it is an AI when asked.

The whiteboard
Fractions, number lines, and steps get drawn while the tutor speaks. Your kid can interrupt at any point and the drawing pauses.

Every turn is transcribed and every check is graded and kept. Parents read transcripts and a per-skill report refreshed at the end of each session.

Questions parents ask
Will it do my kid's homework?
No. Coach mode is on for every session: for a graded-looking problem the tutor withholds the final answer until your kid has tried at least one step. After one attempt, "just show me" gets a worked example and then a similar problem to do.
How do you handle my kid's data?
Voice is transcribed to respond and is never stored as audio. Nothing from a camera leaves the browser; the camera is off for teens and adults. Transcripts and progress belong to the account holder, who can read, export, and delete everything from the parent dashboard. No ads, no ad trackers, no selling data.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It runs in the browser on desktop and mobile, with push-to-talk on phones and a text box that always works when audio does not.
What happens when the minutes run out?
The session stops at the cap and says so. Nothing is charged beyond the plan. The parent dashboard warns at 80 percent.
What is it built on?
An open-source classroom engine called OpenMAIC, plus a stack of other open-source work. Every question in the practice bank is written for this product and reviewed by a person before your kid sees it; during a lesson the AI tutor also writes quick checks of its own. Nothing is lifted from a textbook. The credits page lists each piece and its licence.
